1. Cinema poster's 

The Chennai city is always colorful and festive due to various factors. One of such factors is cinema. The city has rooted connections with the South Indian cinema. A lot of pioneers and popular figures have emerged from this city. The postcards that had cinema posters on it, seems very historic and nostalgic cinema posters and post cards, both respectively have their own history and value towards the communication sector. Both combining together becomes a very important piece of history and culture of Chennai.


2. Veedu Movie Postcard



The highly saturated colours of Veedu movie postcard attracts very well. It resembles the opposite side of the essence of this film. This postcard resembles all the main three characters as it is how they characterised in this films, Archana as an innocent girl, Chokkalinga Bhagavathar as a strict person and that thatha character as a normal thatha character. It contains the signature of Independent Filmmaker Balu Mahendra on the top corner and also the quotes on the bottom by Balu Mahendra. It also includes Ilayaraja name and Producer name (கலாதாஸ்)

3. Cameras with Bellows 1960s
The cameras portraited in this postcard is Bellows cameras. Bellows cameras allows movements that can be used to correct distortion in a photograph and to avoid converging or diverging verticals. The cameras mentioned here are Folding hand camera, Studio portrait camera. These cameras are belongs to 1960s. This postcard contains two main logo are one is India Post and another one is Tamilnadu Police Museum.

4. Harry Potter JK Rowling 


This postcard features a red and yellow saturated color scheme inspired by the movie *"Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" (2009)*. It shows an owl standing on Harry Potter's hand, a scene from *"Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" (2001)* where Harry bonds with Hedwig, the snowy owl he receives as a gift from Hagrid. The postcard also includes a portrait of J.K. Rowling.

5. Chandramukhi Postcard 



This postcard was released for the 2005 psychological horror-comedy movie "Chandramukhi." It was written and directed by P. Vasu and stars Superstar Rajinikanth, Actor Prabhu, and Actresses Jothika and Nayanthara. This is a Meghdoot postcard, priced at 25 paise, which is half the cost of a regular postcard. The postcard also includes the logo of Sivaji Productions.

6. Mullum Malarum Movie Postcard 



This postcard features the poster of the movie Mullum Malarum and also showcases around seven movie stills. The postcard clearly represents the intense anger of Superstar Rajinikanth's character. The movie, written and directed by Mahendran, was released in 1978 and celebrates its 46th anniversary this month.

7. Centenary City of Chennai Postcard - Postcrossing

It was prepared for the University of Madras Centenary city of Chennai meet-up on 19/01/2021 by Postcrossing. The photo depicts the Senate House of the University of Madras, Chepauk campus.


8. World Postcard Day 2020 Postcard 


This postcard is about the University of Madras. The photo on this postcard is from Ramnath A.S. Photography. It was prepared for the World Postcard Day meet-up on 01 October 2020 by Postcrossing. The photo depicts the Centenary Building of the University of Madras, Chepauk campus.

9. University of Madras, 1857 Postcard



 

This postcard provides a brief history and overview of the University of Madras. It states that the University was established in 1857, with approximately 9,157* students enrolled. The buildings are designed in the Indo-Saracenic style, featuring Byzantine and European architectural elements. Notable alumni include Sir C.V. Raman, S. Chandrasekhar, and Srinivasa Ramanujan. The motto is Doctrina Vim Promovet Insitam. The campus covers a total area of around 426 km². There are over 84 Postcrossing members. The University comprises six campuses, 18 schools, 87 departments, and offers 230 courses. A statue of Queen Victoria was located inside the University, unveiled on 20 June 1887, during the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria's Accession. The University's first building was the Senate House, inaugurated in 1879.


10. Museum Theatre Postcard  


Museum Theatre is situated proximity to the main entrance to the Museum, very much visible from the Pantheon Road; the museum theatre is a rare example of the Indo-Saracenic mode of architecture. The theatre was built by the British in the late 19th century.

The crescent shaped structure has a high raised plinth and is reached through a magnificent flight of a pair of granite stairs. It is primarily a semicircular structure having rectangular wing at the rear side. A long corridor with porticos on either side stands centre of the structure. The latter wing now houses galleries of the museum. The main hall is accessed through a curved verandah with a row of columns connected by hemispherical arches.

Exposed brick architecture was followed in the Museum Theatre. The red-bricks are seen in the outer walls of the building while the inner walls plastered with lime mortar. The dome in the museum theatre has provided no supports of wooden rafters. This theatre has special acoustic systems like no echo heard and voice is audible even in the last row without any amplifiers. Tiered-seating arrangements are found in a half circle manner around the pit, pit has row of seats. Total 558 seats are available at the Museum Theatre.

During the British time, theatre was chiefly utilised for the performance of English plays, was most favorite of the then British elite society. Now, the museum theatre has been used for the museums own cultural and academic programs such as art workshops, lectures and conferences. This theatre is also available for rent to conduct cultural performances like dramas, music concerts, Bhartaha Natiyam etc.,
